Elzhana Popova
Artist
Elzhana is a conceptual artist from Odessa, Ukraine, born in 2001. She is 24 years old and has already dedicated 10 years of her life to art. After receiving two art degrees—at the Odessa Art College and the Kyiv Academy of Arts—she found her voice through paintings that serve as self-portraits, reflecting her inner world.
Elzhana uses nude bodies as symbols of naturalness and sincerity, exploring contrasts between reality and metaphor. Her work is a constant internal conflict where rational and illusory elements collide. Through her paintings, she manages to calm this chaos, find a balance between contradictions, and express her emotions in a harmonious whole.
After the war began in Ukraine, Elzhana moved to Georgia, where she actively participated in various projects, residencies, and exhibitions, as well as taught people about art. She then continued her creative journey in Israel and Spain. Now living in the United States, she continues to create unique works that reflect the struggle between the chaos of her inner world and the search for meaningful balance.

Artist Statement
Elzhana uses a restrained palette, combining realism and abstraction to find balance between these two elements. Her works are filled with symbolism, reflecting both personal experiences and deep connections to her people. The naked bodies symbolize  naturalness, while naive elements emphasize the purity and honesty of her art. The artist favors static, complex figures to express silence, creating a sense of suspended time. Ephemeral details, such as flowers, highlight beauty in dark elements, revealing harmony even in shadow. Large-format works give Elzhana the freedom to fully express herself and find her balance between reality and metaphor.
